ContentEach vial contains Meropenem 1 gr

IndicationAdult & childn w/ pneumonia & nosocomial pneumonia, UTI, intra-abdominal, gynaecological (ie endometritis), skin & skin structure infections, meningitis, septicemia. Empiric treatment in adult patients w/ suspected infections & febrile neutropenia symptoms.

Contra IndicationHypersensitivity

DosageAdult Pneumonia, UTI, gynaecological infections (ie endometritis), skin & skin structure infections 500 mg IV 8 hrly. Nosocomial pneumonia, peritonitis, patients w/ suspected infections w/ the symptoms of neutropenia, septicaemia 1 g IV 8 hrly. Meningitis 2 g IV 8 hrly. Childn 3 mth-12 yr 10-20 mg/kg body wt/8 hr, >50 kg of body wt Adult dose. Meningitis 40 mg/kg body wt/8 hr.

Special PrecautionPartial cross-allergic reactions w/ penicillins & cephalosporins. History of allergy. Liver disease, infections due to MRSA, GI complaints. Pregnancy & lactation. Infants

Adverse ReactionLocal inj site reactions, systemic allergic reactions, rash, pruritus, urticaria, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, reversible thrombocythemia, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, neutropenia. False +ve Coombs' test result; increased bilirubin, transaminase, alkaline phosphatase & serum LDH; headache, paresthesia, convulsion, oral & vag candidiasis.
