Untitled 31Effective in Relieving Neurophatic Pain

ContentEach capsul contains Gabapentin 300 mg.

Indication- Additional treatment in the treatment of partial epileptic seizures with/without secondary generalized epilepsy seizures.
- Treatment of neuropathic pain treatment.

Contra IndicationHypersensitivity, acute pancreatitis patients, Gabapentin is not effective in overcoming generalized primary seizures.

DosageEPILEPSY
Adult & Children >12yr : 900-1800 mg/day. Initially 300 mg 3 times daily on day 1 or by titrating the dose as:300 mg once daily on day 1, 300 mg twice daily on day 2 & 300 mg 3 times daily on day 3. Thereafter, the dose can be increased in 3 equally divided doses up to a max dose of 2400 mg daily.
Children 3-12 yr : initially 10 -15 mg/kg/day in 3 equally divided dose. The effective dose reached by upward titration over a period of approximately 3 days, ≥ 5yr effective dose 25-35 mg/kg/day in equally divided. Doses up to 50 mg/kg/day have been well tolerated in a long-term clinical study. Max time interval between doses should not exceed 12 hours.
NEUROPATHIC PAIN
Dewasa : Initially 300 mg/day on day 1, 300 mg twice daily on day 2, 300 mg 3 times daily on day 3. Max 1800 mg/day.

Special PrecautionRenal impairment, haemodyalisa, pregnancy & lactation, elderly, children < 3 yr.

Adverse ReactionHeadache, drowsiness, tremors, nausea, vomiting, fatigue.

Drug Interaction- There is no interaction between gabapentin and phenobarbital, valproic acid, phenytoin, and carbamazepine.
- Co-administration of antacids will decrease the bioavailability of gabapentin.
