OSTEOARTHRITIS is a inflamation of joint or damage of cartilage joint. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease which influences cartilage joint. Osteoarthritis can be occur to all joint of the body but commonly on knee, pelvic, low back, neck, fingers joint and thumb.


In the joint structure, there is a tissues known as cartilage. It cover the ends of joint bone. Synovial fluid between the bones acts as a lubricant which prevent the ends of bones from rubbing and eroding each other.

Several factors that increase the risk of osteoarthritis as follows:

The signs and symptoms can be:

  1. Pain in the joints
  2. The stiffness of the joint after a long period of not moving and will usually improve after being moved

  5. Loss of motion in the joints

Factors can be done to prevent osteoarthritis:

ü  Maintain ideal body weight and avoid excessive pressure to joints. It aims to reduce joint pain, inflammation and also to improve and maintain joint function.

ü  Consumption of vitamin C supplement. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant and also supports collagen synthesis. Both of them have important role to slow the progression of osteoarthritis.
