CEFOMAX®
INGREDIENT :
Each vial contains: Cefaperazone sodium 1.135 g sterile which is equivalent to Cefoperazone 1 g.
INDICATION :
Treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms in the following conditions:
» Respiratory tract infections (RTI) caused by S. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, S. aureus (penicillinase and non-penicillinase), S. pyogenes (Group A-β-Hemolysis streptococci), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, E. coli , Proteus mirabilis, Enterobacter sp.
» Peritonitis and intra-abdominal infections caused by E. coli, P. aeruginosa, gram negative anaerobic bacillus including Bacteroides fragilis.
» Bacterial septicemic infections caused by S. pneumoniae, S. agalactiae, Proteus sp., Clostridium sp., and anaerobic gram-positive, gram-positive Cocci.
» Skin and soft tissue infections caused by S. aureus, S. pyogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
» Urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
» Endometritis reproductive tract infections, pelvic infections caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, S. epidermidis, S. agalactiae, E. coli, Clostridium sp., Bacteroides sp., gram-positive anaerobic Cocci.
DOSAGE AND USAGE :
Adults, 2-4 g daily, in divided doses, given every 12 hours. In severe infections the dose is increased to a total of 8 g daily in divided doses, given every 12 hours. Or 12 g daily given in divided doses every 8 hours, with a maximum dose of 16 g daily.
The dose for the treatment of gonococcal urethritis is 500 mg intramuscularly in a single dose.
For patients with impaired renal function, the dose is 2-4 g per day.
Infants less than 8 days of age and children, 50-200 mg/kgBW per day given every 12 hours.
The dose may be increased to 300 mg/kg per day for the treatment of uncomplicated meningitis.
