INGREDIENT :
Each vial contains: sterile Cefotaxime Sodium 1,050,6 mg equivalent to Cefotaxime 1,000 mg.
INDICATION :
Cefotaxime is indicated for the treatment of serious infections caused by sensitive strains of microorganisms in the following conditions:
» Lower respiratory tract infections (including pneumonia).
» Urogenital tract infections and gonorrhoeae (especially if penicillin-resistant).
» Skin and soft tissue infections.
» Gynecological infections including pelvic inflammation, endometritis, and pelvic cellulitis.
» Intra-abdominal infections including peritonitis.
» Bone or joint infection.
» Central nervous system infections, including meningitis and ventriculitis.
DOSAGE AND USAGE :
Child :
» Neonates < 1 week with body weight 2 kg : 50 mg/kg every 12 hours.
» Neonates < 1 week with body weight 2 kg : 50 mg/kg every 8-12 hours.
» Neonates aged 1 week - 4 weeks with a weight < 1.2 kg: 50 mg/kg every 12 hours.
» Neonates aged 1 week - 4 weeks with a weight of 1.2-2 kg kg: 50 mg/kg every 8 hours.
» Neonates aged 1 week - 4 weeks with a weight > 2 kg: 50 mg/kg every 6 hours or 8 hours.
» Children aged 1 month - 12 years with body weight < 50 kg : 50-180 mg/kg in 4-6 divided doses.
Adults :
Uncomplicated infections: 1 gram every 12 hours.
Moderate to severe infections: 1 -2 grams every 8 hours.
Severe/life-threatening infections: 2 grams every 6-8 hours, for life-threatening conditions: 2 grams every 4 hours.
