SIMFLOX® 500
INGREDIENT :
Each film-coated caplet contains: Ciprofloxacin 500 mg.
INDICATION :
SIMFLOX® - 500 Film Coated Caplets are indicated for infections caused by ciprofloxacin sensitive bacteria, namely:
» Urinary tract infections with or without complications, for example those caused by the bacteria E.coli, K. pneumoniae, P. mirabilis, E. cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Citrobacter freundii, etc. Bacterial prostatitis is also responsive to administration of SIMFLOX® - 500 Film-Coated Caplets.
» Gastrointestinal infections, including bacterial diarrhea caused by E.coli, C. jejuni, Shigella sp., etc. Typhoid and paratyphoid fever were also responsive to treatment with SIMFLOX® - 500 Membrane-Coated Caplets.
» Sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea (including those caused by penicillinase-producing strains of gonococcus) and chancroid.
» Lower respiratory tract infections caused by E.coli, K. pneumoniae, E. cloacae, H. influenzae etc. Diplococcus pneumoniae has only moderate sensitivity to SIMFLOX® - 500 Film Coated Caplets.
» Aspiration pneumonia caused by anaerobic bacteria is less responsive to treatment with SIMFLOX® - 500 Film Coated Caplets.
» Skin and soft tissue infections, especially those caused by various gram-negative bacteria. SIMFLOX® - 500 Film-Coated Caplets are also indicated for skin infections caused by S. aureus and Streptococcus, but Streptococcus is less sensitive to SIMFLOX®-500 Film-Coated Caplets.
» Bone and joint infections caused by E. cloacae, S. marcescens and other susceptible bacteria.
DOSAGE AND USAGE :
The recommended oral dosage for SIMFLOX® - 500 Film-Coated Caplets is as follows:
» Mild / moderate urinary tract infections: 2 x 250 mg/day.
» Severe urinary tract infections (or with complications): 2 x 500 mg/day.
» Mild / moderate respiratory tract infections, : 2x 500 mg/day. Joints, skin and soft tissues.
» Bacterial diarrhea: 2 x 500 mg/day.
» Chancroid : 2 x 500 mg/day.
» Uncomplicated acute gonorrhea : 250 – 500 mg/day (single dose).
» Typhoid or paratyphoid fever: 2 x 500 mg/day/day.
